A Special Intercessor

Fr. Harvey greeting parishioners after Mass

I have been a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Springfield, PA for many years now and knew of Father John Harvey, OSFS from his time ministering at our Parish. His humility, his zeal for proclaiming the Truths of the Catholic Church, and his kind smile left a lasting impression on me.

When my best friend was diagnosed with cancer in 2019, I wanted a special intercessor for my prayers for her. My thoughts went to both Father John Harvey and Deacon Art McGuire. I searched on the internet to see if the Oblates of St. Francis De Sales had done any work to put Fr. Harvey’s name forward to be canonized. I was disappointed when I did not find anything specific on this. Since that avenue wasn’t fruitful, I knew I needed to create my own prayer to ask for Father Harvey’s intercession (as well as Deacon Art McGuire’s).

I am happy to say that my friend’s cancer has been in remission now for 3 years!

I still have that prayer and pulled it out as I was writing this memory. I believe Father Harvey and Deacon McGuire had a hand in her recovery as well as our family and friends who prayed for her.

I was delighted to recently see the holy cards at St. Francis of Assisi Parish which are promoting the opening of Father Harvey’s Cause for Beatification and Canonization as well as a beautiful website detailing his life. I know I will be praying every day for this cause.

This is the prayer card Terry saw at her Parish.
